CHAPTER 4 - EXCERPT

A trickle of sweat dripped from my temple. I was crouched over my computer, staring at the screen, waiting for a reply. Oh, the agony of anticipation! Some of you know exactly what I’m talking about.  

When the notification alert brought Aurelien's answer back to my desktop, it was worth the wait. He wrote that if I really wanted to make another demo submission, he would try to find time to review it.  

Not exactly the red carpet, but just enough sliver of daylight to push forward...

CHAPTER 4 - EXCERPT 

By now my fingers were flying across the keyboard. Parts were flowing from my imagination freely, rapidly, with neither compulsion nor hesitation. Many composers have had such experiences, where the inspiration comes unbidden and floods the mind with ideas perfectly tailored for their purpose. Resembling a download rather than a construction project, Kong’s Theme was forming organically before my ears, as daylight passed into nightfall, hours disappeared into the darkness, and daybreak found me still at the keyboard, putting the finishing touches on my theme. 

This had been an epic all-nighter, fueled by imagination, feedback, and flow. With jugs of filtered water along the way. I had been in the zone for hours and hours, and it had felt magical. As my family finished their morning breakfast and turned their attention to school, I leaned back in my swivel chair and listened to Kong’s Theme rise from the speakers and fill the air with longing, loyalty, love, triumph, and tragedy. Yes, this was a fitting theme for the King of Skull Island. A deep satisfaction filled my heart...
